As I write this, we’ve raised $14,916.23 for HEART in Haiti. That’s just $83.77 away from our original goal of $15,000. A couple weeks ago, with $15k well within sight, we increased our fundraising goal to $25,000. With over two months of fundraising left, including an event on March 3, it’s easy to envision us reaching over $30,000 in donations - if not more. That’s incredible! The kids of the HEART in Haiti School are so excited for their library. Whether you’ve donated, shared our project, or even just read the blog, you are making a difference for these kids. Everyone who knows just a little more contributes to transforming a bit of the world.

The kids at the HEART in Haiti School are so excited for their library! We had a call with them during our session last night and are so excited to meet them at the end of March.
The almost $15k we’ve raised is amazing. It’s something we can all be proud of. Yet, what we’re accomplishing goes beyond the money. In fact, I believe that fundraising isn’t about the money at all. Fundraising is about relationships, connection, and making a difference.

There have been 161 individual donations so far. That’s 161 relationships. 161 stories. 161 people who’ve been moved to participate in this journey. That’s the most amazing thing. We often talk in group about staying out of the cave and asking for support. This is what asking for support looks like. In doing so, we've created 161 connections...and counting!

I look at the 11 donations (and counting!) on my page and feel a connection to each of the people who’ve donated. I think about them, about my memories of them, and about why our message made a difference. Some are easy. Others are people I’ve not spoken to for years, whose names arrived in my inbox as a surprise.

Each donation, each connection is a gift. The kids of HEART in Haiti get their library. More kids will get to experience it next year. I've felt connected to people in different ways and felt reconnected to people who I only see on my Facebook Newsfeed or in memories. And everyone who donated got a gift too. I can't speak to what that gift was, I just know that it's there.

So, as you read this, think about why you donated or why you’re here reading this blog. What brought you here? What had you participate? What emotions, or stories, or thoughts were called up in you when you learned about this project? What gift did you get in return? We encourage you to leave a comment below. Share with us!

As always, thank you for your support. We're on this journey together and great things are happening.

P.S. We have a bonus thought for you to think about too: where else are you getting tripped up thinking something is about "fundraising" when it's about connection instead?
